You have a role to fill, and building an apprenticeship means coordinating instruction partners, funding, workplace supervision, and records. Apprenticeship in a Box brings those pieces into a program Craft designs and stands up with you. The starting point is deciding which pieces you already have and which need to be built.
What is Apprenticeship in a Box?
Apprenticeship in a Box is Craft's package for building an apprenticeship program: a pathway for the role, a named instruction partner, a braided funding plan, and one record of hours and competencies in Craft Connect. Pre-built pathways are repeatable. Where one doesn't exist, we design it with you.

What's in the box?
A pathway for the role you need to fill
You have a defined structure for what apprentices learn, the work they practice, and how their progress is assessed. Where a pathway template exists, that structure is repeatable rather than rebuilt for each employer.
Pre-built allied health pathways include surgical tech, sterile processing, and medical assistant. Teacher pathways have an established structure too. For other roles, we design the pathway with you, starting with the work and skills your organization needs. We scope that together on the first call.
A named instruction partner
You know who teaches the related instruction and how it connects to workplace practice. Pangea Learning provides that instruction for the pre-built allied health pathways. Teacher pathways can use WGU School of Education or your existing academic partner.
A named partner gives the program a clear owner for coursework. It also gives your workplace mentors a point of connection between what apprentices study and what they practice on the job.
A braided funding plan
You have a braided funding plan that maps potential sources to the program. Each source keeps its own eligibility requirements, allowable uses, and documentation rules.
The plan identifies which parts of training a source could support and what records are needed. It gives your team a basis for reviewing the proposed budget before treating a possible funding source as money available to spend.
One record of hours and competencies in Craft Connect
Craft Connect brings workplace learning hours, competencies, and reviewer approvals into one program record. Apprentices log their experience, and reviewers approve submissions or return them for changes. Program staff use those records to see progress and prepare reporting.
That matters when several people contribute to someone's training. An approved workplace activity becomes part of the apprentice's documented progress, giving the people responsible for the program a shared record to work from.
Two examples of how it fits together
A surgical tech pathway
Pangea Learning delivers the related instruction, and the hospital provides supervised workplace practice. Apprentices log their hours and competency progress in Craft Connect for review, while funding sources are mapped to the program. The pre-built pathway gives those activities a common structure, so the hospital can work from an established training model.
A teacher pathway
WGU School of Education delivers the related instruction, and the district or school where the apprentice works provides supervised practice. Apprentices document hours and competency progress in Craft Connect, and the funding plan is mapped to the program.
Healthcare and education are Craft's home fields. Craft Connect itself works in any field; the starting point for a pathway depends on whether an established template is available for the role.
Who does what?
We design the program and stand it up. Your team runs it day to day.

Craft does not employ your apprentices or supply your mentors. The instruction partner teaches the coursework. Apprenticeship sponsorship is handled at the program level.
Common questions about Apprenticeship in a Box
Is this just tracking software?
No. Craft Connect is the tracking software. The offer also brings together pathway design, funding mapping, and partner alignment.
Is the program the same for every role?
No. Where a pre-built pathway exists, its structure is repeatable for that role. For other roles, we design the pathway with you.
Is funding assured?
No. Craft does not guarantee funding. Eligibility depends on the program, the learners, and the funder's rules.
Does it work outside healthcare and education?
Yes, Craft does. Pre-built pathways exist today in healthcare and education. In other fields, the pathway is designed with you around the role you need to develop.
Bring one role you need to fill. We can start with that job and work through how the program's pieces fit together.
